Distressin' is Impressin'

So much to do and so little time!!!
That always seems to be the case around here! :-)
As always, we have several items in the works right now.  We are hoping to get a lot accomplished over the weekend, so come back soon and you're sure to see some fun new items!

But in the meantime, we thought we'd talk about one of our absolute favorite ways to refinish a piece....
DISTRESSING.

we {heart} distressing!! :-)

Now to some, this may seem a little crazy....
you work so hard to make a piece of furniture so pretty and perfect
and then, you go and you take a sander to it... WHAT?!?!

But truth be told, this is probably our most favorite look when it comes to refinishing furniture.
There is something about furniture that speaks of generations of use.  The layers of paint and the scuffed markings tell a story without words, creating a beauty that is truly unique and one-of-a-kind.

And although not all pieces that we distress have a long history, it's no secret that when we do give them that "antique" look, they defnitely bring a warmth and a comfort to the home unlike other pieces.
Not to mention the fact that distressing can also hide all the wear and tear that can happen in the home! :-)

So it's the perfect way to add personality to any piece.

Here are a couple of past projects we've done with various distressed finishes....
ENJOY the recap!

As you can see, there are a variety of ways to distress a piece, from light to heavy and using different colors and textures, all used to create an array of different finished looks!

We LOVE Distressin'!!
