Sneak Peek of Cabinet Refinish

So very giddy with excitment because....
Guess what we get to do again???  CABINETS!!!
Oh My Gracious there is NOTHING in the world like seeing an amazing transformation with just a couple of cans of paint and some elbow grease!!  Seriously....it's the BEST!!!

We hope to have AFTER pictures of this amazing kitchen transformation soon, but we thought in the mean time we would share some of the BEFORES and DURINGS of this fun project!

Here is the kitchen before.  We love her decorating style, fun and adventurous with a flare for the unique.  This girl is not afraid to try something new....a woman after our own heart!  We could be soul sisters!!!

The first stages of painting cabinets are probably the most boring part.  True, there is excitement because you know something amazing is about to happen, but taking all the cupboard doors down, cleaning, using the sander deglosser and priming can take a looooong time, which can test your patience because you dont get to see any results yet.  Your vision hasn't quite come to life so it can sometimes be hard to stay motivated.  But can we just tell you....this project was so FUN because our client was there with us every step of the way!  She wanted to learn so she worked right beside us and even did a lot of the work on her own!!  Wish all  our jobs could be this fun!!
Here is is a picture with our first coat of white on the cabinet doors.  You can finally start seeing all your hard work pay off.  And who doesn't love a fresh coat of white paint?!?

So the request was that all the cabinets be finished in a cream with light distressing and dark walnut stained finish.  BUT.....for the island she wanted a fun (and beautiful we might add) pop of teal!!  How gorgeous is this color?  She is going to have some fun barnwood to the island as well when everything is all done.  Love, love, love this color!!!

Here is a quick pic we took when whe had finished our first coat of the cream and teal.  You can start to visualize the dramatic difference this will make in the kitchen.

Now here's where it REALLY gets exciting!!!  We can finally get an idea of how these beauties will look when they are finished.  These are pictures of the cabinet doors after they have been primed, painted, distressed and now stained.  This is where we get our second wind of energy and excitement, because you can truly see the benefits of all the many hours you've put into this project.  Love the color combo and the richness that the dark walnut stain adds to these doors!

And one more final sneak peek we wanted to share before the big reveal.....how genious is this idea?!?!
I have to give complete and full credit to our client, because she is the one that totally suggested this, but what a great way to keep your cupboards off the drop cloth when you are applying the final clear coat protective finish.  This way it doesn't stick to the drop cloth and you can get a good coat all the way around the edges.  We've propped pieces up before, but never with Red Solo cups!!!  So very smart!!!

We hope to have pictures of the finished makeover to show you all very soon!!

Unique Fold Up Desk

Just finished this unique custom order piece that turned out so cute.
We found this great desk that has many functions.
It's unqiue because of the fact that it can fold down to look more like a nightstand or end table, but still has the functional surface of a desk when opened up!
How fun for a craft room, office or kids room.

One of our customers saw this on our IG page and knew she had to have it!
So we refinished it in the colors of her office/craft room and off it went yesterday to it's brand new home!

Love the colors!
Love the style!
Love the design!
Love EVERYTHING about this stunning little piece!

We're Still Here!!!

Sorry for the lack of posts over the last month!  We're still here and still going strong...we think?!?!
Summer is always a crazy time and in addition to that, our computer is on the fritz so that makes it hard to keep things updated here in blogland.

We promise to try and do better!
Hopefully some fun changes will be come to the blog soon as well, so keep an eye out for that to happen.

In the meantime, we thought we would share a little bit of what we've been up to.

Check out this SUPER CUTE custom order trunk we refinished for a darling girl!
Unfortunately...we (absent-mindedly) deleted all of the BEFORE photos, but we did happen to create this little collage that gives you kind of an idea of the amazing transformation this piece took!

So stinkin cute!
This trunk had some great sentimental value too as it had been in the family for generations and so it was very important to this family to keep it as a special reminder and connection to the past.
We were so happy to participate in this update and love the way it all turned out!!

Kitchen Cabinet Makeover

Just finished a FABULOUS kitchen cabinet makeover that is simply
to die for....

It's perfect!!
Great color,
Fun style,
and definitely an improvement from where it all began!

Here is the BEFORE

Nice enough cabinets, but just your basic brown,
nothing really to brag about....

So it was time for a transformation ---
to turn them into something new and hip and trendy and fabulous!!

And here they are AFTER

We used Behr Paint in shades of Ultra Bright White for the upper cabinets and Wedgewood Springs for the lower cabinets.  Love how this color combo compliments one another and adds a beachy cottage feel to the space.  It totally brightens it up from the previous brown tones throughout the space.

We absolutely love this makeover and plan to share every bit of this project
STEP BY STEP
in an upcoming post.

I Love This Product!!

OK....
I think this is a first for us here at Ary Ann's Place.

We've used a lot of products for A LOTTTT of different projects.
Along the way we have developed a a list of our favorite tried and true
go to's
and we've also found our fair share of
let's steer clear of using that again experiences.

Just to clarify, we have never been asked to sponsor or promote specific products...
everything that we share is strictly from our own unbiased opinion.

And with one of our most recent projects we found a product that we ABSOLUTELY love and we think it is so amazing that we want to share it with all of you!

Check this out!!!

Klean Strip
Easy Liquid Sander Deglosser
I stumbled across this product with the help of one of the Home Depot associates working at the paint counter.  I had inquired about a particular brand of primer that claimed to provide coverage without the need for sanding.  The associate informed me that this particular primer would work (which I also love btw), but in light of the fact that I was working on an entire set of kitchen cabinets, he also recommended using the Sander Deglosser as well.

Now I have to admit...
at first I was a little skeptical that this product would even work.
But at under $7.00 a bottle, what could it hurt to try it out?!?!

So I made my purchase and hurried home, eager to try and see if this would really work

--and in the process save me about a bazillion hours of sanding, countless sheets of sandpaper, and aches and pains of hovering over SEVERAL pieces for this particular project --

There was obviously A LOT riding on this one.... :)
Well, guess what?!?!

It WORKED!!!  and it worked REALLY WELL!!!!  and it was FAST!!!  much faster than if I had sanded each and every piece (28 in total to be exact) of this particular refinishing project!!

It's a product that incorporates ALL of my favorite things --
-- quick & easy (even a beginner could use this)
-- inexpensive
-- provides a beautiful finished piece

So now that I've sung it's praises,
let me tell you just a little bit about how this product works.

STEP 1:  Use a dry cloth --I just used an old washcloth-- and dip it in the liquid deglosser, then wipe over the entire (cleaned) surface of the piece you are painting.

Step 2:  That's it....YOU'RE DONE!!

Only ONE step, and such an easy step too!
The instructions indicated that you could put on a second coat of deglosser if needed.  I'm sure there might be some projects out there that would need a heavier coat in order to provide better "grip" for the paint.  But for me, one coat did the trick!

The deglosser left the piece feeling somewhat tacky, but that was what provided a good base for the next steps on this project.  I waited for the deglosser to dry and then it was on to 2 coats of primer and then the fun part...
the beautiful paint colors chosen by our client for her gorgeous new kitchen!!

So I'm giving this product about 20 thumbs up!!!
It's well worth it's weight in gold and will have you singing it's praises after just one use!
